Direct Forming to Square ERW Tube Mill
Direct production of square and rectangular tube from flat strip.
Progressive corner pre-bending forms an open square or rectangular section before HF welding and sizing. The process reduces unnecessary deformation, roll investment and changeover time for a designed size range.

Direct forming to square does not first roll the strip into a round tube. Flat steel strip is progressively roll formed into an open square or rectangular section, then high-frequency resistance welded and sized to the target profile in one continuous route.

One roll set can cover a designed range of square and rectangular tubes, reducing roll purchasing cost by about 50%.

Rolls can be changed without removing the main shafts or stands, shortening changeover time by about 40%.

Only the four corners are progressively deformed, eliminating unnecessary deformation and reducing total energy consumption by about 15%–20%.
