PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Equipment description and reference data

FFX is an internationally advanced flexible forming process. It provides stable forming and convenient size changes. The mill is divided into breakdown-forming and fin-forming sections, and the rolls in the breakdown section can accommodate multiple tube sizes.

Delivered Project

A Ø165×8 mm FFX high-frequency longitudinal welded tube production line has been delivered to Malaysia. It uses advanced FFX flexible forming technology.

The breakdown-roll surfaces use an involute, multi-curvature profile, so the breakdown rolls do not need to be replaced within the designed range. The fin-forming and sizing sections use quick-change rigid stands, saving roll-change time.

The complete line uses PLC automatic control and inverter-regulated AC motors, providing high accuracy, stable performance and convenient adjustment.

Process Features

  1. Advanced FFX flexible forming technology.
  2. Improved forming accuracy. The PLC automatic control system helps maintain consistent and stable tube diameter, roundness, weld-seam position and forming quality while reducing manual adjustment errors.
  3. One set of breakdown rolls can produce every tube diameter within the designed range by servo-adjusting the roll positions. Compared with conventional roll forming, this can reduce roll requirements by 30%–60%.
  4. Less roll-changing and adjustment time improves production efficiency.
  5. Split rolls are used instead of one-piece rolls, reducing spare-parts inventory requirements and cost.

Uncoiling → strip joining → accumulation → FFX breakdown forming → fin-pass forming → high-frequency longitudinal welding → sizing → straightening → cut-off
